Impact Stories
Restoring Dignity Through Clean Water
In the small village of Supresu, residents used to walk miles to fetch water from unsafe streams, risking disease every day. Through the Nana Baffour Obeng-Appau I Foundation’s borehole project, clean and safe drinking water now flows directly into the community. Mothers no longer fear their children falling ill from waterborne infections, and families can focus on building their future with dignity and hope.
Supporting the Aged & Terminally Ill
For Nana Afia, a 79-year-old grandmother battling chronic arthritis, life was a struggle without any social support. Thanks to the foundation’s stipends and logistical help, she now receives monthly food supplies and transportation to her hospital appointments. This intervention has not only eased her pain but restored her sense of belonging and respect in her community.
Breaking Barriers in Education
Twelve-year-old Kojo was on the verge of dropping out of school to help his parents on the farm. Through the foundation’s education support initiatives, Kojo was provided with books, a school uniform, and mentorship support. Today, he is excelling in class and dreams of becoming a teacher to inspire other children like himself.
Saving Lives Through Health Screenings
Last year, the foundation partnered with the Ministry of Health to organize free screenings in Suhum. Madam Abena, a market woman, discovered she had dangerously high blood pressure during one of these checks. Early detection saved her life, as she was quickly referred for treatment. Today, she is thriving and able to continue supporting her family.
A Second Chance: Life Insurance for the Less Privileged
When 43-year-old Kofi unexpectedly passed away, his family was left in shock and financial distress. Thankfully, through the group life insurance program of the foundation, his funeral expenses were fully covered, sparing his family from crushing debt. This vital support helped them honor his memory with dignity and begin the healing process.
From Struggle to Stability: Micro-Financial Support for Families
Ama, a single mother of three, once faced eviction and constant worry about feeding her children. Through a micro-financial assistance grant provided by the foundation, she started a small soap-making business. Today, Ama has become self-sufficient, sending her children to school and regaining her confidence.
